How can I help?

Two years worth of records

I’ve been thinking a lot about my blog and what I really want to accomplish. I want to use my past experiences to help others.. but how? I mean–how can I help in a unique way? One thing I have to offer is medical records. Having these records allows me to be very accurate and objective while telling my story.

When I first started going to therapy it was because I had gotten myself into trouble and signed a diversion agreement, requiring me to see a therapist for drug and alcohol counseling. I had no idea what I had gotten myself into! My first therapist wasn’t great and I didn’t see her for long. My experience with her really left a bad taste in my mouth and I thought I was done with therapy forever. I’m going to shorten a very long story and say that, at some point, I was encouraged to give therapy another shot with a new counselor and I loved it.

I have trialed over 25 medications and had hundreds of visits with medical professionals and counselors. Each time I go in for counseling, a progress report is written up to document the visit. My goal is to guide others through the process by showing them what I have gone through, where I came from and who I am today. I still have my ups and downs, but I have learned a vast amount of information that’s helped me to heal and become a stronger person. I’m not suggesting everyone needs to see a professional therapist in order to improve themselves or their state of mind; my goal is simply to show others how I dealt with my emotions and what I learned along the way.

The following is an example of the records I can use to share my history with anyone searching for the right path. Therapy isn’t only for the rich.

I'm beginning a long and exciting journey. I've been diagnosed with PTSD, Bipolar I, and Anxiety Disorder but I don't feel that any of these things have to define me. I'm planning to document my journey as thoroughly as possible in hopes of helping others find their way!
